West Africa

As part of an internal audit process focused on the provision of a duty of care, my services were requested to review standing operations procedures (SOPs) to ensure that an internationally recognised standard of ‘best practice’ was used.

The INGO in question was conducting operations in three West African countries:

  • Sierra Leone
  • Liberia
  • Nigeria

Using a risk management methodology I was able to: identify threats and vulnerability, assess existing SOPs and identify gaps accordingly.

The final stage was to update the SOPs and train the local security team on the changes.

The outcome was an all-encompassing, regional security management plan.

The benefit of which allowed standardisation across the three countries. Deviance from the plan being easily identified and corrected.
